What is fiesta mall?

Fiesta Mall was a shopping mall located in Mesa, Arizona. It opened in 1979 and was initially owned by Westcor, a subsidiary of the Macerich Company. The mall featured over 130 stores, including anchor tenants such as Dillard's, Sears, and Macy's.

Fiesta Mall struggled in the late 2000s and early 2010s as online shopping and competing malls drew customers away. In 2014, Macy's announced it would be closing its location at the mall, and Sears closed the following year.

In 2018, the remaining owner of the mall, New York-based Kohan Retail Investment Group, announced plans to demolish a portion of the mall and convert the space into a mixed-use development. The remaining stores at Fiesta Mall closed in 2019, and the mall was officially shuttered.

The fate of Fiesta Mall remains uncertain, as redevelopment plans have faced delays and setbacks. The surrounding area has seen some revitalization efforts, with new businesses and residential developments moving into the former mall space.
